In the past 5 years I have experienced trauma and the many challenges that came from it. I was forced to adapt to physical conditions that had me leaning on others for help. Healing and relearning to walk as well as the humbleness that comes with dependancy has changed the way I look at life.

I wonder if I am crossing the line in this series. I am in unknown territory working with a material that I am not familiar with and never liked. I took a course with Jen Hamilton on using oil pastel as a drawing medium and started to familiarize myself with rubbing and layering colours over other colours scrapping, erasing and using a blending stump for the first time.

I found pleasure and joy in this new way to manipulate material.

This switch from Lino block printing to pastel drawings has brought me back to when I first started to create. I like to tell simple, primitive, and intuitive stories using gestural imagery.

The series “The Red Line” contains secrets and intimates at deeper disclosure and meaning around physical and emotional vulnerability.
